How It Started
Growing up, saffron was always part of my culture. It wasn't some exotic superfood—it was simply something we used at home. As I got older, especially during university, I found myself coming back to it because of how much I appreciated its effects. The problem was that using it every day wasn't exactly convenient. Preparing it properly takes time, and between lectures, deadlines and work, that wasn't realistic.
At the same time, I'd always struggled with taking pills. As a child I experienced dysphagia and phagophobia, so swallowing tablets wasn't just uncomfortable—it was something I actively avoided. Even years later, I still found myself reaching for gummies whenever possible because they were simply easier.
Then I noticed something frustrating.
Most gummy supplements were packed with sugar, filled with ingredients I didn't really want, or contained tiny amounts of the ingredients they proudly advertised on the front of the label. They were convenient, but they rarely seemed to match the science.
That question became Pastilak.
Together, we wanted to build supplements that people would actually enjoy taking—especially students and young professionals balancing stress, poor sleep and busy schedules. We wanted products that fit into everyday life without feeling like another chore, while still respecting the evidence behind the ingredients inside.
Soheil brings the biomedical science side of the business, spending an unhealthy amount of time reading research papers, analysing clinical trials and obsessing over formulations. Weronika brings the creative vision behind the brand, making sure Pastilak feels as approachable, colourful and human as the people we're building it for.
